Peter the Great

30th August 2007 12:24am

2 weeks since i came back from St Petersburg... didnt wana write anything about it actually until a friend suggested i jot something here, well the fact i heed her advice i guess i do miss russia after all.

Didnt gave myself a real good rest since i am back in sg... back in the city of GREAT efficiency and modernization. Been working like a dog ever since. friends who seen the glamorous side of what i do will wonder in envy why i am able to travel so much ... well i am sure they do, ...coz they do not know a thing of what's really going on behind the scenes. sigh

anyway, i wont dwell on that aspect... lets just say i am still grateful for what going on for the first year in the company. Met some really wonderful colleagues, a fantastic mentor and a boss who so far held his promises to me. Am really grateful for that. Now i am approaching the second year, its time i consider things beyond myself, but the growth of the company as a whole which i felt got some real issues hanging.

Before i begin unnecessarily straying my frustrations here, think i better get back on track... back to russia.. St petersburg.. sigh a truly a magnificant place to visit. If i were to describe St Petersburg in just a few sentences, i would say its a small forgotten city yet so rich in history, arts and culture, its in fact a city museum made up of a string of grand royal palaces, memorials and statues, fireworks, magnificant cathedrals, beautiful women and a long legacy of world famous art pieces.

If there is only one place i will recommend, St Petersburg will surely be one of my top 5. I aint going to write anything more, coz my limited vocab will definitely ruin its beauty. Frankly, if you in a place whr u could see a train full of peaople 1030pm on any weekday, the quality of life isnt there at all.... Singapore just isnt the place for me...probably too fast to live in.

Looking back for the past one year, i've been to and worked with people from Thailand, Malaysia, USA and russia, seen working cultures from all sorts of industries and worked with people from almost all levels of managment, from picky japanese to humble Thai people to multi racial Americans to proud Europeans.. changed my profile 3 times, seen betrayal, seen crazy decisions being made, seen really naive leadership which i thought i last seen during schooldays... seen myself grown beyond i ever thought i will be. so finally... am still asking myself that same qns since a year ago. What is it that i really want?

sigh, cant believe am still asking myself that question since grad. frankly.. am still as loss.

what the heck..
